Mass Sport Event – Global UN Peace Day

220 learners from three township primary schools: Siamisang, Manamalong and Refalotse in Winterveld, Tshwane , participated in this event on 22 September 2011 which was based on the Circuit Training system i.e., all participants did all the events.  The event made provision for six “stations” i.e., netball – broom hockey – streetsoccer – volleyball – hockey skill and a “Peace” station.  At the Peace station all the participants were informed what Peace meant and they sketched a sport action symbolizing Peace. Winning sketch attached.

Each participant received an UNESCO MANIFESTO document which they  signed and took home.

The messages from Sepp Blatter, Willi Lemke and Joel Bouzou were read to all three schools during their morning opening in the school hall.

All three schools were requested to optionally take part in a poetry  competition symbolizing PEACE. 35 learners participated. A neutral panel selected the winning poem.

Mass Sport Events

In January and February there were twelve mass sport events organised by the youth leaders of Altus Sport.

Beside many different sports like street soccer and volleyball, a lot of funny and educational games were part of the events.

In average 80 primary school kids were participated for each event and the events took place in Klipkruisfontein, Soshanguve, Mamelodi, Winderveldt and Ga-Rankuwa.
